 The Creating Change staff is comprised of Clinical Therapists and supportive staff, who continue to develop and implement comprehensive and innovative treatment. Our therapists aim to produce long lasting and permanent changes in individuals’ lives. Below you will find our in-community clinicians as well as our in-office clinicians.

GLORIA CORREA, LCSW

CEO, Clinical Director, & Clinician

Gloria Correa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who is trained in CBT and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) which is an evidence-based treatment for individuals impacted by trauma. Gloria is also trained in Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Sand Tray Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior therapy for domestic violence (DBT). Gloria’s specializes in treating individuals impacted by sexual abuse, marriage therapy and play therapy. Gloria treats both adults and children. She is trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is the application of the principles of learning and motivation from Behavior Analysis, and the procedures and technology derived from those principles to the solution of problems of social significance; this type of therapy is used to support persons with autism. Gloria is also trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), which aims to support and strengthen the relationship between a child and his or her caregiver as a vehicle for restoring the child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning. Treatment also focuses on contextual factors that may affect the caregiver-child relationship. This treatment is geared for children from birth to five-year-old. 

Gloria can adopt to an individual therapeutic needs and help them solve their mental health. As a whole, she brings over 25 years of experience in the field of clinical social work, dealing with trauma-related cases and family dynamics, as well as her ability to speak Spanish fluently.

Suzanne Deshchidn

MFA, MA, LSW

Suzanne is a graduate of Rutgers, and a social worker licensed in the State of New Jersey. Prior to becoming a clinician, Suzanne earned an MFA in Poetry at Solstice Creative Writing Program and a Master's in Creativity Studies from Union Institute. With awareness of the neurological underpinnings of creativity theory, Suzanne can help clients set achievable goals and strengthen their sense of self. Additionally, Suzanne is SAHMSA certified to assist the homeless population in applying for social security benefits. She works with young adults, children, and families.

Beatris Ortiz-Drace

LCSW

Beatris, often referred to as "Betty," is a bilingual, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in New Jersey, with proficiency in both Spanish and English. With over 21 years of dedicated service to children, adolescents, and families, Betty's vast professional experience positions her as a pillar of support for families during challenging times. Betty's current academic pursuit is at Monmouth University, where she is furthering her expertise with a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW). Betty specializes in anxiety & depression; she provides therapeutic interventions tailored to individuals grappling with these conditions. She also works with couples strengthening their relationships and facilitating effective communication. Betty is also knowledgeable in matters of immigration and is able to provide treatment support geared to dealing with this type of issue  Assisting individuals who've immigrated to the United States, ensuring their smooth transition and well-being.

Katie Zurita Solis

LSW

Katie is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. She received her undergrad BSW degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Katie is bilingual, fluent in Spanish and English, and has provided bilingual case management services to women, children, and families using a trauma-focused approach. She has interned as an undergraduate with Oasis, a Safe Haven for Women and Children, and The Center for Drug and Alcohol Resources working on the Strengthening Families program. After her undergrad, Katie spent 5 months in Mexico teaching English to children in grade school, from first grade to eighth grade, where she received a teaching certificate from the country of Mexico. Katie has also worked with children with depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, and youth who are on the autism spectrum. She is knowledgeable in CBT, solution-focused therapy, and art therapy. Katie is trained in CPP,  which aims to support and strengthen the relationship between a child and his or her caregiver as a vehicle for restoring the child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning. Treatment also focuses on contextual factors that may affect the caregiver-child relationship. This treatment is geared for children from birth to five years old. Through active listening, empathy, and evidence-based interventions, Katie works collaboratively to help children, adolescents, and families in navigating challenges, promote mental well-being, and develop effective coping strategies. 

John Villada

LSW

John is a graduate of Fordham University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. He is a Bilingual Clinician. John has provided bilingual therapy services in both short term (Family Crisis Intervention Unit) and long term (Family Stabilization Program) programs. He has worked with clients individually as well as provided family therapy to children, adolescents, and parents. John has experience with community outreach and family advocacy both in the school and other outside agencies. John’s professional career has provided him with the capacity to work well collaboratively with a team of mental health professionals. John is trained in Trauma Focused Therapy, substance abuse and family therapy.


In-Community Behavioral Assistants (BA)

Ruby Latorre

BA

Ruby has earned her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Pennsylvania State University. She has 2 years’ experience of being a certified Behavioral Assistant with Creating Change. She enjoys working with youths of all ages and families have reported the joy of working with Ruby. Ruby is also the Case Manager for Creating Change, LLC. Ruby is a guard member of the New Jersey National Guard. Responsibilities includes one weekend a month, two weeks of annual training during summer, and if the Governor of New Jersey activates the National Guard during a state emergency. Families and services are usually unaffected due to Ruby’s service to the Guard.
